FOR GEORGE began in 2002, as a way of remembering the life and music of George Harrison on the year anniversary of his passing. This collective show, organized by Christopher Clause and Chris Jamieson, was a warm and heart felt tribute to George which featured friends and family in a grand hall known then as James Street Baptist Church. Sadly the original sanctuary that housed the first show is no longer standing, but the show will carry on in the new unofficial home of the Beatles' tribute shows, The Pearl Company.
"The FOR GEORGE show will always remain one of my favourite tribute shows. Not only because it was the first show we staged, but George's music continues to remain fresh in the realm of pop music. His music continues to bring me much joy, and gets me thinking and on my knees. I have enjoyed what our city's musicians have done in their interpretation of George's music and I can't wait to see what they have in store for us this year. The Pearl has become our second home and we are grateful to Barbara and Gary for their kindness in hosting our events."
The artists appearing at this year's celebration are (as of February 9 - line up subject to change):
The Barr Band Jennifer Beehler Christopher Clause Andy Griffiths Bec Jamieson Chris Jamieson Frank Koren Kim Koren Fred Magie John Mamone Steve Parton Dave Pomfret Michael Scott Spider Costello and Chris Wheeler from STONE BLUE Peter Taplay and more!!!
Funds raised from this show will go towards the Debbie Clause Recording Fund, which will help local musicians get their recorded works completed. Submissions for this Fund will be open until May 1st and forms can be found at www.fermatahamilton.org.
